Curren$y Speaks On Terry Kennedy & Fly Society
Curren$y stopped by the XXL offices in promotion for his new album Pilot Talk. While there, the conversation shifted towards his feelings on skateboarder-turnt-rapper-turnt-reality TV star Terry Kennedy and the name he (Curren$y) essentially created, Fly Society.
Spitta introduced TK to the Fly Society world believing he would be a valuable in both music and clothing. For personal reasons, the pairing did not produce the results they originally intended and would soon cut ties with one another. Unknown to Curren$y at the time, however, Kennedy had the Fly Society logo and name copyrighted.
TK decides to move forward with the company even securing a clothing deal last week. The skaterboarder, who has collaborated with Supra & KR3W in the past, looks to unveil Fly Society’s own line of t-shirts moving into sweaters, jeans, etc. in the near future. He is also preparing for the airing of his B.E.T. reality series “The Kennedys” this fall.
Regarding the rift, Spitta had this to say.
“I started Fly Society. That’s me and my mans. I broke homie in. Like ‘fuck with us on some music shit.’ I don’t know. I’m in New Orleans. Niggas is where they at. Paperwork and shit. Funny little woop, woops with lawyers. Copyrights, blah, blah, blah. Niggas trying to carry it like they started it, so I was like, you know what, they can have it. I don’t even want it. It’s just so easy for me. I can just sneeze another one. And then, J.E.T.S…”
Yet and still, it’s not like Kennedy has been quiet about the situation between he and his former business partner either. He launched his “F*ck Curren$y” campaign earlier this summer.
